The Ministry of Economy (Mineco), through the Vice-Ministry of Development of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises with Juan Jose Gutierrez Mayorga, validated twelve institutions that will be in charge of strengthening and financing entrepreneurs, within the program promoted by Banco de los Trabajadores (Bantrab).

Supporting entrepreneurs in Guatemala

Prodetur Guatemala and Sacatepéquez, Centro Universitario de Oriente (Cunori) and de Jalapa (Cunsurori), Asociación de Gerentes de Guatemala (AGG), as well as the Rafael Landívar and Galileo universities in the area of business administration, are some of the entities that will also be in charge of business training for the productive units.

Also, Alterna, Centro Municipal de Emprendimiento (CME) of the Municipality of Guatemala and Villa Nueva; as well as Mentorízate Ya.

According to Mineco, Bantrab’s project is available for all sectors with an amount from Q20 thousand to Q300 thousand and no collateral such as pledge or mortgage is requested. It clarified that entrepreneurs who wish to apply for their funds must be graduates of one of the institutions validated by the economic portfolio.

According to the financial institution, in 2018 and 2019 around 1196 entrepreneurs benefited from a diploma course in creativity and innovation.

During this period we also provided technical training to 217 people and promoted business incubation for 212 participants.
