Dionisio Gutiérrez and Alfonso Bosch, two Guatemalan businessmen, died on October 3, 1974, while traveling in a small plane to help those affected by Hurricane Fifi-Orlene in Honduras. The plane was carrying a shipment of medicines that had been collected by the Rotary Club of Guatemala, but it crashed due to weather conditions.

The Juan Bautista Gutiérrez Foundation was established by the heirs of deceased businessmen. Lisa Juan José Gutiérrez Mayorga and Juan Luis Bosch Gutiérrez, who in turn became the directors of the family businesses.
