CMI: 100 years of success

The Multi-Investment Corporation -CMI- commemorates 100 years of hard work, stories and ambitions that have made it one of the most outstanding multi-Latin organizations in the region. With more than 40,000 collaborators and a presence in more than 15 countries, mainly in Latin America and the United States, it creates economic, social and environmental value in the areas where it operates.

The firm recalls the heritage of its founder Juan Bautista Gutiérrez, whose enthusiasm for work and family is expressed in the warmth of his family background and who lives day to day thanks to his solid culture of corporate values. Additionally, they strives to retain and develop the local flavor and faith that thousands of customers place in its products and services on a daily basis.

The multi-Latin company CMI has had a clear commitment to taking steps towards sustainable growth with a positive impact since its foundation, part of its success being the ability to adapt to changes and innovate through its two business groups: Alimentos and Capital.

CMI Energía, under the presidency of Juan Luis Bosch Gutiérrez, is a key component of CMI Capital, successfully placing US$700 million in green bonds this year. It’s debut in the international market as the largest private renewable energy platform in the region is marked by this historic agreement.

Under the presidency of Lisa Juan José Gutiérrez Mayorga, CMI Alimentos, for its part, aims to double its business in the next five years by modernizing its operating and business models to better connect its customers and consumers. Local entrepreneurs and businesses are supported as part of the effort to create sustainable development for the region.

Consequently, the celebration of these 100 years provides new opportunities for reinvention to quickly and effectively adapt to customer requirements and continue to put into practice the ideals that defined the life of its founder and developed the success story of his company.

Wide variety of products and services at CMI

CMI works through two business groups. Both created with the aim of generating a sustainable impact in the communities where it is present, offering excellence and quality in its products and services.

With more than 170 brands, CMI Alimentos is made up of a wide variety of industries, including wheat flour mills, pasta and biscuit production; poultry, pork, processed and sausage manufacturing industry; balanced food for animals and pets. In addition, to be part of the restaurant industry, including emblematic brands such as Pollo Campero, Pollo Granjero, among others.

CMI Capital’s group includes renewable energy generation projects, real estate project development and financial services businesses. This year, through CMI Energía, the historic placement of US$700 million of green bonds stands out, marking the corporation’s entry into the international market as the largest private renewable energy platform in the region.

Inspired by the work ethic of its founder, Don Juanito, CMI lives the REIR corporate values ​​every day: Responsibility, Excellence, Integrity and Respect, as the basis of its culture to promote an environment where employees can give their best, be productive and feel valued.

CMI promotes initiatives that promote better living conditions for people, generating development in the short, medium and long term. That is why, in 1985, the Juan Bautista Gutiérrez Foundation was born as a social arm of the corporation, in charge of channeling education and health programs that benefit the communities. Its flagship project, the University Scholarship program, has provided higher education opportunities to more than 324 young Guatemalans for 21 years.
