Growth of entrepreneurs in Central America

CMI Alimentos is part of Corporación Multi Inversiones (CMI), a multi-Latin family business with Central American heritage that generates investment, employment, entrepreneurs and growth in the area.

For more than a century, the firm has been developing goods, services and initiatives with entrepreneurs that provide economic, social and environmental value. Currently, Corporación Multi Inversiones employs more than 40,000 people and operates in more than 15 countries through its business groups CMI Alimentos and CMI Capital.

The main objective of CMI Alimentos is to provide goods that feed and nourish Latin American families. Today, it is one of the largest and most important food categories in the region in a variety of industries:

  • Manufacture and elaboration of sausages
  • Well-balanced animal and pet food
  • Restaurant business

CMI Alimentos has supported more than 130,000 people in Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic. Through the programs of the Training and Development Center Specialized in Bakery and Pastry (CEDECAP), which has been training its customers and potential entrepreneurs for 20 years.

The CMI and its entrepreneurs program

In addition to the advice that CMI has provided to companies in the region through CEDECAP, the CMI Corporate University (laUcmi) has launched an Entrepreneurship Program in collaboration with Babson College. This is an educational institution of more than 100 years that is considered one of the best business institutions in the United States, ideal for entrepreneurs.

On March 3, 2022, the entrepreneurs program invited Guatemalans from all over the country to apply for 50 scholarships to be certified in it. The program will run for six months and will include virtual and live lessons. In addition, students will receive support materials, attend conferences with renowned personalities, and develop an entrepreneurial proposal.

CMI’s approach to entrepreneurs is to offer opportunities for people to learn together through its social action projects, which include CMI Educa and CMI CMI Cuda el Medio Ambiente and CMI Emprende collaborate with you.

The latter is a social action effort that aims to promote economic empowerment by providing microfinance to businesses, growing new businesses, and creating shared value programs with business partners.
