In order to help close business deals with foreign buyers interested in Guatemalan agricultural products, authorities and officials of the Trade Advisors Network of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Minex) participated in Agritrade Expo & Conference 2022.This fair was organized by the Guatemalan Exporters Association (Agexport), with the purpose of supporting national agricultural exporters This year’s edition was held from May 18 to 20 in Antigua Guatemala, Sacatepéquez.

Participation

During Agritrade 2022, business rounds, conferences and seminars were held with international exhibitors. For this purpose, some were invited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to address issues on trends and innovations in the agricultural sector.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shirley Aguilar, headed the Minex delegation and was accompanied by the Director of International Economic Policy (Polec) of the Minex, María Olga Santisteban.

The Vice Minister was also accompanied by Polec officials and trade advisors.Among them were the trade advisors in New York, Gabriela Morales; Los Angeles, Diego Meneses, and Canada, Marcia Méndez.

Forum

The aforementioned advisors participated in the panel on international market trends with Minex trade advisors.In addition, during this forum, the vice-chancellor discussed the work of these officials to identify buyers interested in importing Guatemalan products.

This is a task that is carried out daily through consulates and embassies in different countries. On this occasion, 13 businessmen visited our country to participate in Agritrade 2022.
