CMI Energía assures doubling of its capacity

CMI currently has a great responsibility. Energia Corporacion Multi Inversiones (CM), Gabriela Rivas, proclaimed this Friday that they intend to double within about three years the installed generation capacity at the Mata de Paimo park, located in the municipality of Guerra, Santo Domingo province, from 50 to 100 megawatts(MW) of energy implemented.

The businessman José Gutiérrez Mayorga indicated that with this type of energy they offer to the market the opportunity to have access to a renewable generation that takes care of the environment: Rivas, during an interview in the framework of a visit to the director of the newspaper. El Nuevo Diario Persia Maldonado, emphasized that we are hundred percent renewable, we use three of the main renewable technologies, hydro, solar and coal.

He added that they have always looked forward to bringing their renewable energy generation platform to the Dominican Republic.

Rivas explained that the Mata de Palma park has a size of 74 hectares (surface measurement equivalent to 100 areas or 10,000 m²), with an installed generation capacity of 50 MW, where 200,500 solar panels are distributed, with a total investment of US$72.5 million capital.

He commented that “the Mata de Palma solar farm has first class technology and was developed by BAS Corporation, built by Dorminion, and allowed the generation of approximately 250 direct and indirect jobs, as well as subcontracts that allow the operation of the farm to comply with international quality standards.

He said that “on the other hand, we see with very good eyes the electric pact that President Luis Abinader is promoting, we believe that it is the roadmap that the Dominican Republic should follow, for three main purposes, attracting more investment so that the energy matrix is more renewable, lowering the cost to the end user, and coverage to more population”.

He also said that they have already been in talks, both with President Abinader and with the Minister of Energy and Mines, Antonio Almonte, to explore new opportunities, because they are interested in carrying out the second phase of Mata de Palma, and that they are visualizing in the country “opportunities for wind energy“.
