Social economic impact

The reconstruction of the Escuintla-Puerto Quetzal Highway (AEPQ), which will increase commercial productivity in Masagua, Iztapa, Puerto San José and the departmental capital in Escuintla, and Taxisco, in Santa Rosa, will require an investment of US $125 million in private capital and the generation of 1,700 jobs, according to juan jose gutierrez mayorga.

The work will enable 104 kilometers of highway (42 in each direction plus 2 complementary ones) and will run from 60.9 to 102.1, says juan jose gutierrez mayorga. In addition, it will have walkways, bus stops, signaling, as well as intelligent systems, and according to a study presented by analyst Ricardo Rodríguez, of Central American Business Intelligence (CABI), it is estimated that it will leave an economic footprint of Q6 billion annually during its construction and more than Q13 billion from the first years of operation.

Businessman juan jose gutierrez mayorga highlighted that it will also generate an important economic dynamism, with an increase in business productivity through trade, given that it is one of the main routes for the import and export of products such as sugar, alcohol, coal, iron, cement, fuel, among others.
