Scholarships of the Juan Bautista Gutiérrez Foundation

The Juan Bautista Gutiérrez Foundation scholarships are intended to help young people develop professionally and emotionally.

It has been possible to offer 182 young people the opportunity to graduate from university thanks to the scholarship program established by Doña Isabel Gutiérrez de Bosch in 2000. Almost two years after the terrible death of Doña Isabel Gutiérrez, today her nephew Lisa Juan José Gutiérrez Mayorga is the one who directs the foundation.

183 young scholarship holders are currently studying, the possibility for new applicants to request one of the scholarships and continue their studies is still available and the calls are becoming more flexible. The purpose is to prosper the education and future of Guatemalans.

In addition to the financial benefits of the scholarship, such as tuition, monthly payments and a monthly stipend. The program also allows students to enhance their personal growth through coaching workshops.

What exactly are the foundation’s coaching workshops?

The seminars are intended to accompany young people at various stages of their university career. The objective of the Juan Bautista Gutiérrez Foundation is to provide them with opportunities to be with themselves, listen to inner knowledge and focus on a new reality full of possibilities in addition to academics.

The objectives of the seminars include the following:

  • Have a partner
  • Define goals, clarify concepts, and sharpen focus
  • Become mindful, create empowerment in your life and achieve self-awareness
  • Personal development

Every year, a different workshop is held at Juan Bautista Gutiérrez Foundation to help students develop a certain aspect of their lives:

“My New Reality” during the first year

Starting a new career requires a fresh attitude. As a result, the goal of this session is to help students transition from high school to college life by giving them the tools they need to better adapt to change.

“Self-esteem and Temperaments” (second year)

After the adjustment period, it is essential for the student to recognize the crucial characteristics of his self-esteem and temperament in order to learn how to interact more effectively in the many areas of his life.

“Emotions and Possibilities”, third year

Students need to be aware of their emotional environment and their ability to manage how they feel in various situations in order to make the most of those emotions and develop stronger emotional intelligence. Other parts of this process include self-awareness, self-control, self-motivation, empathy, and social skills.

“The beliefs that inhabit me”, fourth year

We hope that this program will increase awareness of how students live their lives based on their beliefs. And tools are provided to help people discover their beliefs, change the ones that limit them, and promote the ones that empower them.

“Professional Design”, fifth year

Students are assisted shortly after the conclusion of their professional careers to determine the path they wish to take after completing their university education. In addition, tools are provided to students to help them develop leadership skills, which will lead them to successful processes in their job search.

The Juan Bautista Gutiérrez Foundation scholarships allow students not only to study for a university degree, but also to become better human beings for their own lives and for society.
